Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Building “The Harvest House” to debut At Newfield In March
Fall was quite a busy season for Newfield! We celebrated the grand opening of Rosette Park, Newfield’s first residential neighborhood; debuted KC Trails, a vast network of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails; and welcomed the public to Newfield Farm as our market relaunched for the season!
Now, to kick off the community’s spring openings and the start of a new year, we’re thrilled to announce that The Harvest House, Newfield’s community supported agriculture (CSA) building, will debut at Newfield Farm this Spring!
A place for residents and the community to gather and connect, The Harvest House is where the Newfield CSA will provide programs that allow locals to access fresh produce and products from Newfield Farm and nearby farms and artisans. The new building features a retail store, as well as a packing room with space to clean and prep vegetables, enabling Newfield Farm visitors to easily take home their locally sourced, farm-fresh goods!
Additionally, CSA members can visit The Harvest House on a weekly basis to receive a bountiful box of seasonal produce harvested right from Newfield Farm. In turn, this membership provides the farm with valuable support to begin the planting and growing process. Talk about a win-win!
“On behalf of the Newfield Farm team, we are so excited to unveil The Harvest House and give locals a hub where they can come together in the name of health, agriculture and sustainability,” said Andrew Gerren, Newfield’s lead farm educator and farm manager. “This is a major asset to Martin County, reinforcing Newfield’s emphasis on wellness.”
Propelling Newfield’s mission to foster a healthy, homegrown community and a deeper connection to nature, Newfield Farm supports broad access to local produce and nutrient-dense, farm-to-table foods. Once completed, the farm will span more than 170 acres and incorporate sustainable farming practices to produce fresh foods year-round.
Supervised by Agmenity, Newfield Farm will continue to serve as a dynamic community resource for farm-based experiences, educational programs, communal gardens, and a multitude of events – including The Market at Newfield Farm. This year, the 4,000-square-foot Newfield Barn is set to open as a multifaceted operation featuring educational programming, cooking classes, demonstrations, and tastings.
We can’t wait to welcome Newfield residents and Martin County locals to The Harvest House!
