Explore the Outdoors with the Newfield Trailblazers’ Weekly Hikes
Immersing the community in nature, and fostering an appreciation for the outdoors, is a cornerstone of the Newfield experience. Since January, we’ve debuted several new and exciting events, activations and groups within the community, including our hiking club: the Newfield Trailblazers!
Open to the public, the Newfield Trailblazers is a friendly, outdoor-focused group dedicated to exploring the community’s beautiful KC Trails and surrounding Kiplinger Conservancy, which includes over 1,000 acres of pine forests, wetlands, saw palmetto, cattle pastures and lakes – and will soon be home to Martin County’s first-ever gopher tortoise preserve.
Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a fun way to get outside, we welcome “trailblazers” of all levels to join us every Tuesday and Sunday at 9 a.m. for a morning of fresh air, beautiful scenery, and great company. The hikes are designed to be accessible yet adventurous: each is typically around three miles long and takes about one hour to complete, offering the perfect balance of exercise and enjoyment. With a focus on exploring the diverse landscapes that make up the Kiplinger Conservancy area, participants will get to discover everything from peaceful wooded paths to open marsh views. Each turn of the Kiplinger trails reveals new landscapes and wildlife.
This March, Newfield Trailblazers and Audubon Society naturalist John Nelson are also hosting a full moon “Owl Prowl” hike on Friday, March 14, with donations going to the Audubon Society. This special evening hike will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. – a perfect event for those who are looking for a way to unwind after work under the sunset, moon and stars.
